The Oncology Systems segment designs, manufactures, sells, and services hardware and software products for treating cancer with conventional radiotherapy including IMRT, IGRT and volumetric modulated arc therapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy, stereotactic radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery and brachytherapy. The Imaging Components segment designs, manufactures, sells, and services X-ray imaging components for use in different applications, including radiographic or fluoroscopic imaging, mammography, specific procedures, computed tomography, and industrial applications. The Other segment comprises of Varian Particle Therapy, which manufactures and sells products and systems for delivering proton therapy; and operations of the Ginzton Technology Center, which is the firm's scientific research facility. The company was founded by William Hansen, Edward Ginzton, Russell Varian, and Sigurd Varian in 1948 and is headquartered in Palo Alto, CA.
