Born To Sell Seller's Paradise

Spooky Part Over?

markets spookedNow that Halloween is behind us, perhaps the spooky part of the market is behind us.

Today the S&P 500 closed above 2100 for the first time since August 18. Energy and healthcare stocks did well, up 2%+ for each group. The Nasdaq 100 hit a 52-week high and closed just shy of its March 2000 peak of 4704.73. The key report for this week will be the October non-farm payrolls report due on Friday.

Born To Sell Subscriber Nets Over $1M

Neil BlumenfieldA big shout out and CONGRATS to Born To Sell subscriber Neil Blumenfield who is participating in this year's World Series Of Poker Main Event. Neil survived a field of 6,420 entrants to become one of the final 9, known as the November Nine.

Neil currently has the 3rd highest chip stack of the remaining 9 players. If he were to bust out in 9th place he'd win $1,001,020. Each position pays more than the last, with 1st place paying $7,680,021.

Needless to say, we are super proud of Neil's accomplishment and wish him good luck and good cards in the final game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN starting Sunday, November 8 at 5pm PT. They will play down to 6 players that day, then continue on Nov 9 to play down to 3 players, and then the finals on Nov 10 where they play until there is only 1 player remaining.

When he's not playing poker, Neil likes covered call investing and is looking forward to a nice income stream when he invests his poker winnings in covered calls. Let's see... 7.7M after federal and state taxes gives you about 3.8M for investing. A covered call portfolio generating 1%/month would earn $38,000 per month. That's a lot of poker tournament entry fees. Go Neil!

3 Stocks For Short Squeeze Rallies

JRG logoJohnson Research Group recently published a list of 15 companies that are good candidates for a short squeeze in late October. They then went on to pick their top 3 which they believe are strong candidates for short squeezes.

The 3 companies are: V, VLY, and DF.

A large short position is not necessarily a guaranteed recipe for a successful covered call trade. Many times there are solid reasons for the short position and the stock price may never increase. Other times the shorts get caught in a bull market and have to purchase shares to cover their short positions before they lose too much. That buying to cover is what is known as a 'short squeeze' and it has the potential to increase a stock's price quickly.

JRG's 3 top picks all trade options. You can read their article and decide for yourself if a covered call trade in any of those stocks is right for your portfolio.

From his list, be aware that FIT released earnings after the close today and is down 8% after hours, while FEYE releases earnings Nov 4 after the close.
