Cigna Corp. provides medical, dental, disability, life and accident insurance and related products and services to businesses, governmental and non-governmental organizations and individuals. The company operates through following segments: Global Health Care, Group Disability and Life, Global Supplemental Benefits, Run-off Reinsurance and Other Operations. The Global Health Care segment aggregates into two operating segments: Commercial and Government. The Commercial operating segment includes both the U.S. commercial and international health care businesses and offers insured and self-insured medical, dental, behavioral health, vision, and prescription drug benefit plans, health advocacy programs and other products and services. The Government operating segment offers medicare advantage plans to seniors in thirteen states and the District of Columbia. The Global Supplemental Benefits segment offers supplemental health, life and accident insurance products in the U.S. and selected international markets. The Group Disability and Life segment provides group long-term and short-term disability, group life, accident and specialty insurance products and related services. The Other Operations segment includes the following businesses: corporate owned life insurance; run-off reinsurance business that is predominantly comprised of guaranteed minimum death benefit and guaranteed minimum income benefit business. Cigna was founded in 1981 and is headquartered in Bloomfield, CT.
