The company operates its business through two segments: Ingalls Shipbuilding and Newport News Shipbuilding. The Ingalls Shipbuilding segment includes non-nuclear ship design, construction, repair and maintenance businesses. The Newport News Shipbuilding segment includes all of its nuclear ship design, construction, overhaul, refueling and repair and maintenance businesses. Huntington Ingalls Industries was founded on March 31, 2011 and is headquartered in Newport News, VA.
